This year we fully inaugurate our on-line system available for internet credit card popcorn sales. Customers enter a Scout key code on www.trails-end.com or simply go to www.orderpopcorn.com(this link also takes you to Trails-end.com) and the sale commission is later paid to your Unit through the Council. Trail's End will mail the products to the consumer directly. Several points need consideration:
Each Scout must individually sign-up with the on-line system at www.trails-end.com and obtain a 7 digit numeric sales code number. That number gets distributed to the Scout’s customers. When the customer buys popcorn on-line with this number and the individual Scout is credited for the sale in the On-Line system.
Scouts can have key codes, not Units. This is a change from years past. Unit Leaders can sign up with the system to monitor how their Scouts are selling, but no selling can be applied to a Unit in a general sense. In order for a Leader to directly monitor On-Line sales the Leader has to sign up with the Trail's End regular fall sale system, which we do not use. Don't fret. We have this figured out with Popcorn Manager (see below)
Periodically (usually quarterly) the Council is credited for On-Line sales by Trail’s End and then the Council assesses which Units have earned commissions and sends the checks to the Units. You don't have to do anything.
This year your Unit’s commission for sales On-Line is the same that you earn during the fall sale.
At Council we will analyze the identities of the selling Scouts and credit each selling Scout in Popcorn Managerfor On-Line sales occurring from August 1st through October 31st. The sales will be posted within Popcorn Manager the week prior to Super Sunday. The sales credits will automatically be added to the regular fall sales for prize selection. Unit Kernels will need to make sure that this extra credit is claimed within Popcorn Manager for participating Scouts by Super Sunday.
On-Line sales apply along with regular fall sales for both the regular prize system and the bonus programs including the $600 marshmallow crossbow, the $1000 Wolves tickets, the $1500 Bonus gift card, the scholarship program, and the $4000 Bulls tickets.
On-Line sales add shipping costs to the regular sales price, which are paid by the customer. In addition the on-line system requires multiple product Package purchases or large item purchase. Not every customer will be willing to do this so the regular fall sale is still very important.
Remember that the money does not come to you from Trail’s End, it comes through the Council and is time delayed by several months. You will not see your Unit’s on-line sales summarized within Popcorn Manager at all.The only notations regarding on-line sales will show up in the prize section of Popcorn Manager, and on each selling Scout's SPS page. Because the fall sale and the On-Line sale are completely separate, your Unit’s commissions for on-line sales will be accounted in an entirely different way than the fall sale. However, the Scouts get to enjoy more prizes that count all the sales together.
