Popcorn Kernel Training & Kickoff at Baxter Labs
was a BLAST! Don't forget - Darth wants you to sell LOTS of Popcorn!
It is a fairly large PDF file, over 50 Mb, so it may take several minutes to load This year every unit kernel will be officially recognized as a unit leader with his or her very own uniform shoulder patch. Show it off! Wear it proudly! You are the key to a great year of Scouting and everyone needs to know who you are! When you sign up your district kernel will make sure you have your patch! You’ll look very sharp strolling around camp this summer and at our kickoff, too! We have already planned next year’s calendar (just click the link at left) and we have planned our mid-sale rally entertainment. Popcorn takes lots of time and planning so make sure your unit kickoff is on the calendar. Check this page for the latest information. 2010 Sale Preview! Trail’s End has announced some major product and packaging changes for 2010. After interviewing thousands of customers, leaders, and Scouts they determined that almost 90% prefer healthy oil alternatives. They promise that unbelievable butter will be unbelievably better with canola oil, which offers no “trans fat”, reduces saturated fat and is high in “healthy” fats. They are the only popcorn company in the country to embrace this healthier approach. Trail’s End also has announced completely new packaging for 2010. The new bags are sturdy, re-seal for freshness, and are easier to identify, store and transfer. Their research revealed that consumers want more popcorn and less packaging, so there will be up to 38% more product in each bag compared with last year. They also offer more space to print an increased awareness of Scouting. Moving away from tins will eliminate over 3.8 million lbs. of packaging and eliminate about 20% of our storage space needs. You might be able to move around your garage next year! Along with Trail’s End, we recognize that there will be around 13% of parents and consumers who still want the tins. However, Scouting is concerned with the environment, and our excessive use of heavy metallic packaging needs to end. Trail’s End is working on a completely biodegradable version of the new bags for the 2011 sale. The long-term goal is “Green”, and our job as kernels is to lead our council and join the rest of the country in this endeavor. The prize program will be back next year with a focus on the $600 level. At our mid-sale rallies we will be giving a marshmallow crossbow to every Scout who has accomplished this level of sales. We will continue to recognize our $1000 sellers with an exciting special gift as well. Watch for the banner with 2009 $1000 sellers at camp this summer! As always, every Scout who later achieves these sales levels will receive the prizes after the end of the sale. | | |
