2017 FMSC Report

The Order of The Arrow prides itself on being the ‘Brotherhood of Cheerful Service’. Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Lodge 40 fully embraces these value and provides service to our camps and to our communities.  For the last few years, we’ve partnered with Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) to provide a service event at the beginning of the holidays. FMSC is a Christian non-profit organization that coordinates the packaging and distribution of food to people in more than 70 developing nations.

This year, Lodge 40 was asked whether we would be willing to gather volunteers for a mobile packing event in Mundelein. On Saturday morning, December 16th, over 150 Arrowmen, Scouters, and their families came together to pack meals for children in need. Cheerful spirit was definitely in the air as team raced to pack as many meals as possible!

By the end of the morning, 100,000+ meal-pacs we helped to prepare were ready to feed children living in poverty all over the world. During the 2 hour packing session, the hands of our Scouting family packed enough food to feed 282 kids for a whole year.

The Lodge would like to thank all those who came out to help!  We hope to see you again next year OA Members, all Scouts and families.
