Alumni

Welcome back!  Our Scouting alumni constitute an integral part of our strength as a council. By returning to or remaining involved in the Scouting program, you lead as an example to our youth, our future leaders. We want your help, so please find ways to connect and join us for upcoming events to fellowship and socialize with fellow alumni.

Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Alumni Association (MAA)

We’re making summer plans!  Check back for locations of our “Afterglows” at Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Scout Reservation, immediately following the Weeks 1, 3, and 5 fires. Alumni weekend will consist of lots of great activities for you, including our ever-popular brat cook-out at Wabaningo. Come camp with us at Gilwell Field, on the beautiful shores of “Lake Bannard!” Details to follow soon.

The Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Alumni Association serves to foster opportunities for Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan alumni campers, leaders, staff, families, and friends to remain connected to each other and to the life-changing experience of Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Scout Reservation. Our vision is to create a social mechanism through which all alumni may serve and support Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Scout Reservation to ensure that its quality and impact will be enhanced and sustained for future generations. If you would like to check out Smoke Signals, our newsletter, please visit our official MAA Website. You can find patches and apparel when you visit Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Scout Reservation next summer! We will be updating our online MAA Scout Shop with membership options soon.

Pay your MAA dues here! Remember, our Student Membership is FREE (ages 18-25) and Lifetime Membership is available!

National Eagle Scout Association (NESA)

Only those who have been granted the Eagle Scout Award by the Boy Scouts of America may hold membership in the National Eagle Scout Association. You will be associated with an impressive group of men, many of whom are now in positions of responsibility and prominence in industry, government, military, business, and education. Eagles’ Call, the official publication of the National Eagle Scout Association, will be sent to you with articles of interest detailing the latest developments in Scouting and the achievements of Eagle Scouts. Remember, once an Eagle Scout, always an Eagle Scout! Join NESA today!

Scouting Alumni & Friends (SAF)

SAF’s greatest strength is its people. Your affiliation with Scouting Alumni and Friends can extend the transformative experiences you had as a Scouting participant, both personally and professionally. Even if you haven’t been in touch since you turned of age, it’s easy to reconnect. The great news is that it’s free to join, or you can upgrade your membership for additional benefits. We urge all Northeast Illinois Council alumni and friends to join the SAF today!

Wilderness Engineering Society

The Wilderness Engineering Society is an organization comprised of volunteers that provide support to the Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Scout Reservation. Our mission is to help sustain the property and buildings of Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan through capital donations, technical support (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and other skills), and long-term planning. The WES has over 200 volunteers of various ages, backgrounds, skill sets and talents that provide their support at no cost to the Northeast Illinois Council. You can get more information at Makajawan.com.
