Feature Scout: Leith

Feature Scout: Leith

I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to experience so many new things since joining scouts. One of the best parts about scouting is getting to meet new people from all over the country. I have made some of my best friends in scouting.

A few of my favorite experiences are going to Philmont in 2022 and being the crew leader for our trek, being on staff at Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan last summer, and going to the 2023 National Jamboree and being the senior patrol leader.

I’m in Troop 671 and Crew 671 in Wildwood. I’m currently a Life Scout working on my Eagle rank, and I’m a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow. My favorite merit badge has been Shotgun Shooting.

I am crew president for Crew 671. I am on OKPIK staff this year to help teach scouts and scout leaders how to prepare themselves for cold-weather activities.

Outside of scouting, I play the euphonium in my school’s concert band as well as the marching baritone in the competition band. In the spring, I play volleyball for my school. I enjoy playing Magic with my friends, and I like to volunteer at the Warren Township Teen Center when I can.

My advice to any new scout is to make sure you give things a try, even if you’re not sure if you like it. You might end up finding out that you love it.
