NEIC Launches Annual Adult Registration Fee

Beginning April 1, 2026, the Northeast Illinois Council (NEIC) will launch an annual $65 council registration fee for adult members. This fee applies to adults with primary registrations in packs, troops, crews, and other non-unit roles and aligns with the national registration fee. This council fee will apply to adult memberships with renewal dates on or after April 1, 2026. Merit Badge Counselors are excluded.

 

NEIC April 1st FeesThis new investment allows NEIC to expand and strengthen leader development across the council by offering adult training opportunities at no cost. These trainings are designed to better equip our volunteers and enhance the experience for every Scout they serve. Courses covered include position-specific (role-based) training, Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS), Wilderness First Aid, Wood Badge, Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO), OKPIK (cold-weather camping training), and Scouting University.

To ensure strong participation and high-quality learning experiences, a refundable deposit will be required to reserve a spot in these courses. The deposit will be returned upon successful completion, helping keep training accessible while encouraging commitment and engagement.

The council remains committed to ensuring that cost is never a barrier to service. Steps for Adults Renewing Their Membership

  1. Log on to my.Scouting.org.
    a. If this is your first time logging in, you will need your member ID number and will be prompted to create a username and password. Your member ID number can be obtained from your unit leader, committee chairperson, unit membership chair, or from renewal emails you may have already received.
  2. Click on the notification icon (it will display a red notification symbol).
    a. Follow the prompts to e-sign your renewal.
  3. Select your payment option.
    a. Pay online by following the prompts to complete payment by credit card.

Once payment is complete, your renewal process is finished.
